If you haven't seen it this is a great video, if slightly surreal. Sir Richard Branson is having the time of his life. Who would have thought that civilians would be beamed up to space in 2021. He's the first of the billionaires to make it with another going up on the 20th July, namely Bezos in Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket. Accompanying him will be his brother and Wally ( Mary Wallace) Funk who, at 82, will fulfil her dream of going to space. A dream denied her in the 1960's simply because she was a woman. Musk himself doesn't seem to be planning to go to space yet although he may book a seat on Branson's VG one day. Indeed, I think that Musk will be on one of VG flights sooner rather than later, according to SPACE.com Twitter.

Yesterday, 11th July, Branson's VSS Unity Rocket Plane VG flew to the edge of space for a test flight with Branson on board. How brave and amazing is that! There were three other passengers on board with him in the cabin including Beth Moses, who is VG's chief astronaut instructor. There were also two pilots. In the video you can see the take-off, which I always find exciting, and some spectacular views on arrival. They enjoy a 4 minute microgravity and can be seen floating about having fun. Branson is fulfilling an incredible dream and it shows. I have always been fascinated  by space and wanted to be an astronaut one day. πŸ‘©‍πŸš€ My fascination with space has remained but instead of going to space, I write about it.

Branson's rocket launched from New Mexico and took 90 minutes. To get to this point took Branson 14 years. From next year he's hoping to send civilians to space. But it'll cost you £180,000 for a space flight. I think I'll have to wait until I win the lottery! Although, Branson has announced that there are 2 seats which can be won for one of the first flights. Space is for everyone!πŸ›°πŸš€
